Algebra 2: Concepts learned in Algebra 1 and Geometry are expanded in Algebra 2 by solving systems of equations with two or three variables. Students will continue to learn to solve linear, quadratic, and exponential functions as well as graph these functions. The basic tenets of trigonometry and its applications will be explored. Graphing calculators will be used extensively in this course and learning will be supplemented with the use of Carnegie Learning Cognitive Tutor Algebra 2 curriculum.
Principles of Math: This course is designed to prepare students for success in college or career-technical study of mathematics. Students will follow a curriculum to improve their skills in algebraic thinking, problem solving, operations with integers, fractions and mixed numbers, ratio and proportion, percent, geometric figures and their properties, Pythagorean Theorem, probability and statistics, area and volume, linear functions, number systems and transformations. Student will use Carnegie Learning Cognitive Tutor to supplement learning.MAT 1270: Sinclair Community College College Credit Beginning AlgebraYears of Career Experience: 8.0B.A., MathematicsM.S., Secondary Mathematics EducationEducational Leadership Degree in Mathematics Curriculum
