Completing the College Application

 CHECK FOR THE APPLICATION DEADLINE!

  • College applications can be completed on-line or by using a paper application.   An application fee must accompany the application.  If you complete the application on-line, mail in a check for the amount requested or pay the fee online with a credit card.

Typically no fee is required when applying to a  two-year school.

This fee is added to your school fees if you decide to attend that school

Four-year schools usually require a fee, ranging from $25 to $50 for most
schools.  If you are on the free or reduced lunch program, a college may
waive that fee if you complete a fee waiver form.  See your guidance counselor
or click on Application Fee Waiver Form
.
Note: Some colleges do not honor a fee waiver form.

  • Read the requirements for completing the application.  Many times there is a request for a transcript, an essay, admission test scores (ACT, SAT) and a request for guidance counselor and teacher recommendation letters.
  • Some schools require test scores be sent directly from the testing center.  Check with your Guidance Counselor.
  • Follow the guidelines given to you by your High School Guidance Counselor when completing the forms.  See Partner Guidance Offices.
  • You'll need to request an official High School transcript from your home school be sent to the college.   Please bring in the college address and other information that will be necessary. There may be a charge to process your transcript.
  • Complete your portion of the application completely and make sure to sign and date it.
Note: An application is not considered complete until all parts requested have been sent to the college; including the application, any money required, and any other forms that the school requested.   Schools will only review completed applications for admission!
